Wherever they go, and whatever dangers they face, they will .. The things that make It's a rich universe – Eisenhorn taps into the bountiful, well-thought-out world of Warhammer 40K gaming that has developed over more than two decades. Without The author, Dan “John McClane” Abnett is a real fan of the stylized violence of the 40k universe, which is obvious when you read it. The Eisenhorn omnibus — comprised of the trilogy Xenos, Malleus and Hereticus, and a couple of short stories — chronicles Eisenhorn's transformation from devout (though not quite orthodox) Inquisitor to someone who is a lot more sympathetic to the ways of Chaos. Of the two, Eisenhorn is far better, it's not fair to say really, since it's really an omnibus packed with the original trilogy of novels, as well as some great, interconnecting short stories in between them, but I liked the overall style of this one more. I was heavily into 40K as a teenager and read Abnett's Eisenhorn books when they first came out. Horus Rising was good, The Eisenhorn books do for the 40,000 universe what no one else has to date, and that's expand in ways I never thought possibleand I'm pretty solid on my geek 40k knowledge. The three stories in this omnibus tell the tale of Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor and his lethal band of operatives, whose investigations take them from the heart of the Scarus Sector to the wildest regions of space beyond, and even through time itself. I first came across the Warhammer 40K universe when I played the RTS, Dawn of War: The Dark Crusade. I've recently started reading some books dealing with the lore of Warhammer 40k and am a little overwhelmed when shopping on Amazon. Eisenhorn (A Warhammer 40,000 Omnibus ) . As far as an introduction into the Warhammer 40,000 universe, I can think of no better. I really enjoyed that 2011 by Jolo M. (Just discovered 'Hereticus' came out a decade ago. Essentially, the Omnibus describes the exploits of an Imperial Inquisitor. However I ;ve never read any of the 40k expanded universe stuff. However, being an omnibus, Eisenhorn contains all three books of the series.
